Tsukuba Primate Research Center (TPRC) was established in 1978 as blanch of National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID) and is now belonging to National Institute of Biomedical Innovation (NiBio). The primary purpose of TPRC was to supply the laboratory-bred cynomolgus monkeys with high quality to National Vaccine Safety Testing performed in NIID. TPRC has expanded it's function to provide SPF monkeys as well as various supporting techniques to the wide-ranging biomedical researches including gene-therapy, stem cell research, regenerative medicine, organ transplantation and neuroscience from 1998. The mission of TPRC in NiBio is development of various kinds of nonhuman primate resources as well as disease models to contribute the clinical application of new biomedical techniques.
